Directors Adam Nee and Aaron Nee manage to find just the right balance between action, comedy, and romance to make all three work harmoniously together, while playing with a team of all-stars who make the material sing.
It may not be great cinema in any traditional sense, but it’s great fun and a much-needed antidote to all the bad cover versions floating around.

This movie is the rebirth of cinema. Because it is not only a revival of the genre, but also a new kind of filmmaking based on its classic components.Basically, I think the big problem for great filmmakers is that they don't watch movies correctly!!!!!, before they can start making their own propagandas, before they can make an alien, they can make a Terminator, they can make an avatar, or they can make a Lord of the Rings. Watch the movie like this, Sit Bored 625 times (calculated number according to the main time of this movie). Yeah ,See this masterpiece 625 times and do not be proud. Next, if you go to build a terminator and do not have a billion-dollar audience. ......It is not possible at all. This film should be seen 625 times by any filmmaker, anyone interested in cinema in this **** my opinion, watching this film 625 times is obligatory for any filmmaker and filmwatcher in this genre (or a film of this power).

Don’t call it a throwback though. Despite bearing certain similarities to high-concept action-adventure romantic comedies of yesteryear (namely Romancing the Stone, The Jewel of the Nile and Six Days, Seven Nights), this is a thoroughly modern romp.
The Lost City might not be as majestic or breathtaking as its loftier influences, but it is the swooning stuff that great romance novels are made of.
Star power swings to the rescue of a breezy romantic adventure that sticks to charted territory. Tatum fans will go weak at the Nees’ use of their hero.
Sometimes it works — let’s say 12 percent of the time — and The Lost City can actually be deft and imaginative. Unfortunately, that leaves 88 percent which doesn’t.
Filmmakers can’t depend on funny actors to go out there cold and bring back laughs. They have to be given funny things to do.
This movie is excellent; it's funny, it's charming and the actors who made it happen are perfect in their roles. Wholly enjoyable and riddled with laughter - great watch!

The Lost City is a movie that will make the audience adore Daniel Radcliffe. He's a fascinating actor. I thought the film would be awful, but it wasn't. It is a delightful, entertaining movie that tries to stay realistic.

“The Lost City” is an interesting take on the classic treasure hunting story, as it presents itself as more of a freewheeling jaunt than a suspense-driven tomb crawler. While some moments of expected peril still persist, the film as a whole goes out of its way to assume a more subdued approach that fits with the characters and narrative.
The plot overall is concise and imaginative, though the climactic moments could have been stronger had a more serious outlook been utilized: an example of this would be the direction that was taken for the main antagonist. While their repercussions are negligible and vague, a more fitting demise that could have stemmed from their blind arrogance and drive for notoriety would have been more memorable.
The humor throughout the film acts as a good counterweight for the somber tones introduced off and on in the main character’s arch, and it lands decently overall. Minus a few gratuitous moments that could have been cut, most of the comedic output meshes well with the action and storyline.
One point of dissonance that unfortunately cropped up several times involved the poor build up and execution of moments dealing with the fate of a reoccurring side character. Twice, when two different supporting characters seemingly met their end, the story presented the scenes so abruptly that they felt jarring in contrast to what came before and after - A few wisecracks one moment and a visceral gunshot immediately after - While both of these scenes could have stood out positively and led to satisfying conclusions, they ultimately felt bizarly rushed.
In summery, “The Lost City” mostly achieves what it sets out to accomplish. It’s a lighthearted adventure that stumbles at times, but holds its viewer’s focus through clever plot, fun characters, and a heartwarming through-line of timeless love. While not the shiniest of cinematic gems, it remains a solid experience for anyone looking for a new adventure.

Not sure where all the positive reviews came from?? This was really bad. The script was awful and so many flaws in between. Weak and boring and Sandra Bullock is so skinny and boney, she seriously needs to gain some weight. It was actually painful to watch her and I don’t mean that disrespectfully cause I’ve always loved her. Her face looked all frozen and pumped full of fillers and injections, and those bulging bones! Yikes!! This was disappointing on countless levels.
