An unconventional movie that requires an unconventional mindset to appreciate.
The Portuguese Nun has wit and feeling, though the wit is at times almost imperceptibly subtle and the feeling somewhat stylized.
Even those that have acquired a taste for Green's rigorous, super-ascetic aesthetic may find this French drama about a starlet (Baldaque) to be almost as bare as it is spare.
A tedious slog alleviated only by widescreen shots of the Portuguese capital and terrific fado singing.
