The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent offers something for hardcore Cage fans, cinephiles, or anyone looking for something refreshing and unique. It’s original, funny, dramatic, and action-packed without the tonal whiplash one might expect from such an ambitious narrative.
The real heart and soul of the picture is Cage’s on-screen bromance with Pedro Pascal’s Javi. Their chemistry carries the movie into far more memorable territory, and more than makes up for a few of the film’s less-interesting elements.

If you’re a Cage superfan, then you’re guaranteed to revel in the bounty of references to his filmography. But even if you’re not (though you will become one after this movie), this is an emotional, engaging, funny, riveting film.
The film works like gangbusters, and it’s a terrific vehicle for Cage, but not for the reasons people might expect.
The fundamental disconnect behind Massive Talent, besides its deliberately shaky tonal shifts, is that it feels like a career corrective for a man whose career shouldn’t need one.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent knows that what it has going for it is Nicolas Cage, and Nicolas Cage is what makes this otherwise forgettable comedy worth the watch. It’s not necessarily only for super fans, but super fans will be richly rewarded by this love letter to Cage, who, remember, never went away.
With the filmmakers almost palpably high-fiving between these takes, it’s no surprise they wind up with a star performance that has to count as one of this star’s most strenuous. Treated as this zoo exhibit, he isn’t unleashed to express himself creatively. He’s caged.
A genuinely perfect genre mash up with a hilarious balance of satire and meta humour. I’d love to see more of Pedro Pascal and Nick Cage in comedies together

I can't say much about Nicolas Cage. Somehow I don't warm to his style. I found him good in Kick Ass and interchangeable in Face-Off. These are the only movies with this one that I've seen with him. And in this film there are scenes that I didn't find bad, but also some that I found unpleasant. (Where his ex-wife and daughter arrive in Spain). I found the "meme" cage entertaining and funny. The basic principle has potential, which unfortunately is hardly used. It has entertaining moments, but the moments that are meant to be touching are more awkward and fake. Some scenes are entertaining and fun nonetheless. If you don't know what to watch or want to watch a relaxing movie, this movie works.

While at times uneven and in later parts very predictable and run-of-the-mill, the performances of Cage & Pascal and an unrepentant weirdness make The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent a fun diversion for 107 minutes.

Le grand Nicolas a toujours autant… de talent ! et il le démontre encore une fois pendant presque… trois quarts d’heure… avec des hauts et des bas, certes… mais tout de même ! Lorsqu’il joue son propre rôle d’acteur esseulé, il est encore et toujours… prodigieux.
Hélas, mille fois hélas, ce qui semblait s’apparenter à une sorte de « JCVD » ne débouche au bout d’un certain temps que sur une énième pantalonnade de comédie amerloque de merde, volontiers bouffonne et hystéro-bouffonne…
Monsieur Cage se retrouve alors en roue libre, ballotté dans cette connerie de script de merde, de scénario de merde dans (encore)… un film de merde !Nous voilà bien marri et fortement déçu, car bien évidemment, ce film à l’humour décalé, voire absurde n’a rien à voir avec le film ‘JCVD’, lequel a vraiment tiré profit de son acteur (esseulé lui aussi), tout en profitant avec intelligence du ‘quatrième mur’ comme on dit !
Rien de cela ou plutôt pas très longtemps, car lorsqu’il arrive à Majorque, ça commence (déjà) à partir en vrille… Dommage, car quelques moments du film sont bien drôles… mais quelques moments seulement.
En tout cas, Nicolas Cage est féru de voitures anciennes à ce qu’il paraît, et il a un goût exquis en la matière… on voit au début du film qu’il se promène dans la plus discrète, la plus élegante des Ferrari : la 412 ! tout simplement incroyable.
