Armed with commanding performances, striking cinematography and exceptionally well-calibrated direction, The Wall is a haunting, engrossing death march, one that’s not entirely original but also not easy to shake.
At its core, The Wall serves as a well-made, engaging war-time thriller that showcases Liman’s abilities as a top-notch storyteller, no matter the shape or size of the story being told.

Set in the aftermath of the Iraq War, The Wall is a thoughtful and contemplative cinematic experience in a thrilling package. The commentary on war and metaphors of camouflage and "enemies on the other side of a wall" set it apart from dumb-down war pics. The Wall is a 10 out of 10.

Liman is no stranger to tense, effective thrillers – his last outing was the criminally undervalued Edge of Tomorrow – and on that level, The Wall surprisingly works.
The Wall packs a surprisingly savage punch by boiling the exploits of battle down to its essential elements.
An effective, albeit somewhat artificial, exercise in suspense, The Wall derives much of its propulsion from Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s grunting, grimacing performance as a wounded US soldier squaring off with an unseen Iraqi sniper.
Liman, for all his action acuity, struggles to make lying behind a wall exciting. He manages some tense and rousing sequences, but between them yawn scenes of the killer jabbering bullshit and the hero passing in and out of consciousness.
Where The Wall excels is in the creation of an extra-untantalizing desert atmosphere. The dust is practically inhalable, the sunlight glaring, and the characters grow ever more sand-gritted with each mishap.
Decent war movie with a slightly unique take. It is as much a survival film as it is a war film, and there are some plot twists that keep it interesting. It also has some of the best sniper action of any war films in a while (since there really aren't many films with sniper action really, but it is decently done.) I wasn't sure what to expect with such a seemingly basic premise, but between Doug Liman and aaron taylor johnson I figured it could not possibly be that bad, and I was not disappointed. If you like war films, you will probably enjoy this movie, as it brings something slightly different to the genre.

Lol, the reviews written by americans, kinda hilarious to be honest. It an ok movie but I put a 6 because its not realistic at all. But its still entertaining

"The Wall", builds rapport with the main heroes throughtout the film just to have them continuously tortured and abruptly killed for no purpose other than the writers political agenda. Several things in the film do not make sense also:
Why is the soldier not trained to repair a radio untenna with the spare parts available?
Why is the zoom on the soldiers rifle scope incredibly lower than the killers? I understand the writer wants to create unease with a lack of knowledge of the enemies position, but it's ridiculous how bad the scope is for the soldiers.
Why do the snipers leave their nest into the kill zone? This doesnt seem to make sense and I would imagine is against protocol.
This movie is more of an attempt at a horror movie, than war or drama.
I haven't mentioned the ending, but lets just say an 8 year old would have done a better job at an ending that makes sense. There is no resolution.. Waste of time.
