It's the perfect conclusion to the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, which should be remembered as one of cinema's best trilogies. The action, the emotion, the visual effects and the Oscar-worthy performance from AndyWar for the Planet of the Apes is to me one of the year's best movies. War for the Planet of the Apes was extremely emotional and intense, and I loved it. It was so heartbreaking at times, and so inspiring as well. It looks beautiful, and the CGI is flawless. I have never seen CGI that look so good in my life, and Andy Serkis is amazing as Caesar, again. WoodyWar for the Planet of the Apes was extremely emotional and intense, and I loved it. War for the Planet of the Apes is an absolutely perfect conclusion to the best movie trilogy since The Dark Knight trilogy. This movie is very emotional, very deep, very well acted, and has some great CGI.

After the pretty forgettable Tim Burton version this latest Rupert Wyatt/Matt Reeeves directed trilogy has revitalised the franchise, and War is a fitting conclusion. The CGI is absolutely astonishing, and has improved greatly in the six years since the original. War of the planet of the Apes was a great conclusion to this Ape trilogy, and a must see for fans of the series. The heart and dedication to detail that went into the motion capture of the apes, is the best cinema has to offer. This is partly due to the amazing performance given by AndyWar of the planet of the Apes was a great conclusion to this Ape trilogy, and a must see for fans of the series. This is partly due to the amazing performance given by Andy Serkis as the main protagonist Caesar and the rest of the ape cast. When I first watched the prequel film back in 2011, I was a little biased as I wasn’t a fan of the Tim Burton remake that came prior to its release. I am so glad I took a chance on this reimaging of the series, as I was shocked at the depth of these films. Matt Reeves and writers took a series that can come across as extremely campy, and turned it into a modern day epic. The story of Caesar and his apes is one of the most compelling trilogies I have ever watched. I highly recommend watching this trilogy in its entirety as the weight of some early consequences echo through to the later films.… Expand

You may recall that the last movie in this series was less an action film and more a political conflict. This one puts even more emphasis on the drama, almost to the exclusion of any big battles. This one puts even more emphasis on the drama, almost to the exclusion of any big battles. Caesar fights back against a human army (led by Woody Harrelson), but there's more heart-felt conversation and sneaking around than full out fighting. That being said, the animation of the apes is even more impressively effective in conveying emotions (led by another remarkable performance from Andy Serkis). While much of the interactions are compelling, almost every scene plays out too long. Once again, Michael Seresin's cinematography turns some stunning locations into beautiful images and the simian characterizations are enthralling. While Matt Reeves' distinctive directorial vision is engrossing and at times unique, it's more about emotion than action. (This much ape interaction means lots of subtitles to translate their hairy gestures.)… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you're bleeding from the nose, you'll find this movie amazing, sensitive and emotionally captivating.
If the Simian Flu still hasn't affected you, then you'll see this movie a cheap and boring passover+shoah knockoff, marred by political manifestos that stiff the plot and slow it down to a crawl. The CGI was amazing, although if you're not under the virus' influence yet, I suggest you watch the first 25 minutes, stop there and go read the following plot summary:
"A military faction led by the ruthless Colonel McCullough goes to war with Caesar and his clan of apes. Following a betrayal by one of his own, Caesar loses his wife and oldest son at the hands of the Colonel. Caesar sets off to get revenge, being aided by three of his fellow apes.
On their journey, Maurice adopts a mute girl that he later names Nova. They also encounter another ape that can talk, Bad Ape, who helps the apes find the Colonel's camp. Caesar is captured along with the rest of his clan as they are forced to build a wall to keep out McCullough's enemies, another military faction coming for him as they know he is killing off apes and humans who are regressing as a result of the Simian Flu.

Maurice, Rocket, and Bad Ape all help dig through an underground tunnel for the apes to escape, just as the other military faction arrives to start killing McCullough's soldiers. Caesar goes to kill the Colonel himself, but he finds McCullough in a degenerative state as well, and he cannot bring himself to kill him anymore. The Colonel commits suicide and Caesar goes to rejoin the apes, but he is hit with an arrow by one of the Colonel's soldiers. An ape named Red who worked with the humans then redeems himself by killing that soldier and helping Caesar get out, even as Red is executed for what he did.

The Colonel's men are killed when Caesar blows up a fuel tank, and the enemy soldiers are killed when an avalanche comes down, but the apes and Nova survive by climbing up trees.

The apes make it to a new home, but Caesar is dying from his wound. After Maurice assures him that his youngest son will be safe and know how heroic his father was, Caesar dies peacefully."
