There’s a feminist undercurrent in You Won’t Be Alone, its observations of the patriarchy emerging in ways totally germane to the experience. An odd kind of eroticism also emerges: neither sensual nor entirely gross, and certainly not from the male gaze. Sometimes the film doesn’t even feel like it’s from a human gaze.
The film’s last act brings everything full circle in a way that should satisfy both horror and art-house audiences, but then the movie, like its protagonist, is never content to be just one thing.

You Won't Be Alone is one of the most interesting movies of this year. It is a slow-paced but impressive and striking film where a young witch with the ability to change her body tries all bodies, genders, ages, and even animals, trying to learn about life.

It’s very difficult to walk away from You Won’t Be Alone without wanting to fill a notebook with its words and recollections of its images. It’s a film of wonder, of watching, mimicking, and soaking in awe.
Less of a straight-up horror movie and more creeping dread, You Won’t Be Alone explores the spectrum of human emotion with an otherworldly curiosity. Perhaps it takes someone on the fringes of society to find out what it really means to be human.
In every design detail, the physical production and realization of You Won’t Be Alone really does take you somewhere. However unsettling, it’s a film that knows what it’s doing.
Wearing influences heavily on its sleeve, this is a gorgeous, empathetic feature debut too reliant on what has paved the way for its existence.
You Won’t Be Alone may not be a dumb or unimaginative exercise in style, but it also rarely encourages viewers to engage meaningfully with whatever’s on-screen.

A film that brings a mixture of sensations. A highly sensorial visual work that plays with perceptions. The soundtrack is responsible for the narrative of the story and makes us involved in each scene in a different way. Here we have subtlety accompanied with viscerality, in addition to sensational photography.

Very interesting and ambitious. Had some incredible moments with some eye popping moments as well. If you are a fan of horror this is a must watch.

A fresh take on witches and or skin-changers that let's the audience see humanity from an entirely different and non-judgmental perspective. There's a lot of poetry here and that's a great thing, and there's a refreshing take on folklore. However, the real magic is the film's humanity.

Even though this is billed as a thriller, it's really more of a bizarre folk tale and that seemingly comforting title is certainly a misnomer. It's set in 19th century Macedonia, when a young woman is transformed to a witch. After that, she proceeds to experience human existence, as she assumes the bodies of several people, including a man and a child (Noomi Rapace is one of her victims). The whole affair has a creepy experimental film vibe. There are some mildly gory moments as she consumes the entrails of her victims, but nothing especially gruesome. The voiceover narration and disjointed narrative create a darkly poetic muse on life. This film is really aimed more at art cinema enthusiasts, NOT horror fans. (Macedonian with subtitles)
