There are family photos, interviews with colleagues, newsreels of early shows, a chat with his mother and vintage interviews with an unbelievably young and sexy YSL.
Engrossing and illuminating.
While the film captures all the beauty of these extraordinary pieces, the details of Saint Laurent's legendarily turbulent personal life are glossed over with frustrating tact.
Will best be appreciated by those already familiar with the fashion world in general and Saint Laurent in particular.
So unfocused we never get to know the man behind the gowns.
May be too much Yves Saint Laurent even for those connoisseurs who can differentiate the YSL line from Dior's or Chanel's.
