It’s wonderful stuff, centred on Ayisoba’s signature instrument, a two-stringed lute-type contraption called a kologo. Obviously limited in its sonic scope, our dude provides rhythm and melody lines alike to hypnotic and strangely groovy effect.

This is fierce, uncompromising music. [May 2017, p.47]

More a growler than a singer, Ayisoba plugs in and lets rip from the start, his heavily rhythmic songs wasting no time on subtlety, his band driving the trance sounds home. [Jul 2017, p.91]

For all the collaboration, and the interweaving of roots and modern, Ayisoba's relentless kologo, and sheer force of character, gifts the album its irresistible drive and fierceness. [May 2017, p.32]

The album is most remarkable for the intensity and urgency in Ayisoba’s thrilling and insistent harsh-edged vocals.
