These songs, simply put, are great: vivid, funny, full of feeling and supremely catchy, even if they don’t quite offer a clear picture of who Lil Nas X is offstage or off-screen.

Earworms aside, some songs are merely second-rate homages. ... 7 does show some promising directions for the meme maestro.
  3. 65
In terms of catchy beats and somewhat meaningful lyrics, each song has one or the other, and Lil Nas X just needs a little more time to get them to match up.

With 7, instead of blurring the country and rap lines further, he takes the well-trod path to the rock and rap border. Like country-rap, rap-rock is a genre we’ve endured for a long time, maybe too long. Lil Nas X’s version is much more nuanced, if a tad straight-laced.

7 is musical Chex Mix — lightweight and best consumed in selective increments, but also strangely addictive.

With 7, there’s too little conviction to tell if a full project is something Lil Nas X wants to do. At best, there’s a set of half-considered songs. At worse, you’re left wondering why anyone fussed over Blink-182’s Enema of the State in the first place. ... It's not the work of a star, but a timid upstart. [5 Jul 2019, p.42]

It’s ... not good. A haze of half-gestures and amateur missteps. A deflated balloon. The songs end quickly, as if embarrassed. Apart from the nonsensical yet warm electro-trap song “Panini,” none of the new tracks display even a stray ember of creative curiosity.

All the songs are really different in their sound which makes the album so easy to listen to.

The songs are fun, funny, and satisfying in Nas' case, in the sense that he made a strong effort and still has room to grow. 9/10 = A Expand

In all seriousness this album is a mess of ideas and songs. Old Town Road is what it is. Panini is the only song that really hit with me, short and to the point. Songs like F9mily and C7osure stand out, but not in the good way. Is this a rap EP or what? I get that's he's a young artist that is experimenting, but when even your EP has no direction, I can only hope he can be better at finding a direction for an album.

Big trash. Poor attempt to cross every genre ever, doesn’t sound natural at all. Super force sound throughout the whole album. Just bad

Está muy simple, dudo mucho que vuelva a tener un hit como OLD TOWN ROAD no tiene para nada algo nuevo.
