Incredible second album from a group of four young guys that show a lot of promise. The emotions purveyed in the work are outstanding and easy to relate to. Inventive and always willing to try something new, The Districts are going to be a band to watch for a long time.

This album would be a solid 8 but they get an additional 2 points from me because of their youth (all under 21), the quality of their EP, and the quality of their live performance. Great stuff for sure!

A Flourish and a Spoil is far from a sophomore slump; instead, it's a portrait of the Districts as they evolve from their freewheeling beginning.

The Districts end up finding an in-between, where emotional songwriting becomes the selling point, without being overdone.

For every one of the album's fumbled subtleties, there are several moments when The Districts feint at being great. Enough to show they’re flailing in the right direction.
