Heavily inspired by collaborations with Antwerp's Baroque Orchestration X (B.O.X.) and other likeminded artists at the 2018 Berlin PEOPLE Festival, Altid Sammen is a sonic exploration of unique instrumentation that adds to the rich tapestry of Efterklang's canon.

The amount of detail and craft that goes into Efterklang's music is deeply appealing and, slow moving as it may be, listening to Altid Sammen in its entirety is time well spent.

The sparser the group go, the more space they have to fill and the more it sometimes feels like they’re straining. There’s beauty here, no doubt, and they’ve lost none of their technical skill. The move to Danish also brings an exciting new element. But, after years away working together on other projects, one suspects there's room for more inspiration here.

Whereas the band's grand ambitions have sometimes led to music that can feel unduly grandiose, "Uden Ansigt" and "Verden Forsvinder" mark a welcome return to the more intimately scaled music of their early years. [Nov 2019, p.25]

You might not revisit this record often, but when you want to step back and step out Altid Sammen in its quiet contemplation will be the record to open up new avenues and expose what it was you were searching for.

It's tasteful and meticulous throughout, but the longer, more adventurously songs exert a greater grip on the imagination. [Oct 2019, p.91]

Nice, but probably inessential. [Nov 2019, p.111]

Not understanding Danish should not put the listener off as the music itself effectively conveys the same mixture of melancholy and hope as the lyrics. (Also: The lyrics are translated in the liner notes). The closing track "Hold mine hænder" is the standout leaving the listener wanting more. Expand

Their latest albums were very experimental. If I remember correctly, the group announced a breakup or took a long break. What do we have in the end. It seems that the group decided to return to the roots. Even the album's cover recalls their best work magic chairs (in my opinion)
But even for me, for a person who likes to listen to eternal depression and cry (Sigur Ros), the songs seemed too tearful. Still, electronic sounds and liveliness of sound are sorely lacking.
