Fall Out Boy has been losing their roots but they're keeping, at least, their brand new signature sound that goes more pop than "rock". AB/AS is a solid, if not safe, release. Where Save Rock and Roll was very much a transitional album, with FOB trying to find their feet after their hiatus, AB/AS is planted a bit more solidly in the new sound of the band. Every track is decent, but very little (other than maybe the first three tracks) jumps out and grabs you. This is a good album to listen to a few times, but I can't see it staying at the top of my playlist for much longer than a month or so. It's been called a risky album, but maybe a few more risks outside of this defined bubble would have benefited the record. Also, it's too short. Patrick Stump still clearly has the vocal talent, though. Expand

If you love Save Rock N' Roll, you'll love this album, if you hate it, you'll hate this album too. Irresistible goes interesting but disappointing, there's an excess of synthesizers like in the most of the second part of the album (even when this is the first track). AB/AP is not bad; the band are decided to hold the ground that brought them to the mainstream again. And sad but true, we'll be hearing less guitars and more synthesizers in the next albums. One thing they did right: Lyrics are smart and have that capacity to connect with people. Expand

Fall out boy created A album What's Listening by far the Will Grow As artists and CREATE something new. All the songs are loaded with lots of creative and beautiful melody , the same can be said of the verses, who are written with a lot of will to conquer the listener and be marked in our minds as a good way to describe the eternity of good

I wanted to give this a 10 and would have if it was similar to Save Rock and Roll, mostly high energy, hard edged rock and roll. After listening to all of the songs, many of which are pop, I had to give it an 8. Im still a huge fan of the group though.

Well, I'm happy to say that Fall Out Boy are still... well, Fall Out Boy. It's a good album, it has great songs (Fourth Of July, Novocaine, Immortals, Uma Thurman, The Kids Aren't Alright), but a few... not really bad, just weak compared to the others (Jet Pack Blues, Twin Skeletons, Favorite Record, American Beauty/American Psycho). Overall, an ok effort.

American Beauty/American Psycho is a decently good album for what it is, but I don't personally like what it is. Its ultimate downfall for me is that it's too overly-produced, and the songs (especially chorus melodies) sound too much like they're written for pop radio. Fall Out Boy are really back with a bang with their new album. Their music has been changing, with the current album having more of a 'pop' feel than rock. That, however, does not change the fact that this album is simply amazing. Starting with the catchy Irresistible and ending with the heart-filling Twin's Skeleton, almost each and every song is brilliant in its own right.

American Beauty / American Psycho is so good and I really like it and it's pretty clear that they are getting more pop than rock. The lyrics are still awesome as their last albums. It's generic and solid, and if you prefer the old FOB, you won't like this record. I gave a 7 just because the songs seem equal, it's just a different album that we were expecting, but it is nice.

I have always loved Fallout Boy, but I was a bit flustered from their last record, Save Rock and Roll. It felt like much more of a sell out record then AB/AP did (Really guys, you put **** Big Sean on your song? I mean his verse wasn't bad, but still, really?). This album however hits all the right chords for me. This album however hits all the right chords for me. I love the ominous almost eerie feel of Twin Skeletons, the hilarious and fun samples in both Centuries and Uma Thurman, both with great production to back themselves up (massive percussion and surfer rock respectively), I really love the horns and tightly written versus of Irresistible, and I absolutely ADORE the dark, speaker shattering crunch of Novocaine, as well as the somber atmosphere of Jet Pack Blues. Patrick sounds amazing as always, Wentz's writing is a decent step ahead of Save Rock and Roll, and Joe's guitar work (as well as Pete's and Patrick's) are definitely up to par. Huge props to Andy's drum work as well, some of the songs wouldn't be nearly as good if he was absent

This album I feel has a song for everyone. Definitely one of my favourites of 2015

Not all the songs are good. Some are very painful to listen (I'm sorry FOB, Im a fan but) I miss their old songs. Before they are indie emo rock band and now they are one of the mainstream bands, nothing against it. I just want them to recover their old style.

This album is leagues ahead of their mediocre comeback record. FOB's sixth LP sees the band successfully incorporating samples into modern pop rock tunes that have a hint of their old, more raw sounds from the likes of their first two albums. Definitely a step in the right direction.

American Beauty/American Psycho is the sixth studio album from Fall Out Boy, and it is a pretty darn good one. The band ventures even more into the pop territory than Save Rock And Roll, and this method proves to work well, showing that a rock band can make a good pop album. Just like their previous, Beauty/Psycho is 11 songs long, yet I would add 6 of them to my master playlist, which is impressive (more than 50%). Over time, it has been pretty fun to see the band evolve and make music across many forms of rock and now pop. The album starts out with Irresistible, which had fantastic music. I loved the toe-tapping intro, as well as the line comparing the subject to the cities mentioned. Perhaps the most eye-opening detail was the panning of the high hat and how it changed. I appreciated how even though more elements of pop were present than before (like the amazing brass parts), Patrick Stump displays the same clever lyrics which captures the true Fall Out Boy spirit. I wish I could give all my thoughts on every song, but the character limit won't let me. In general, this album far exceeded my expectations. I was expecting something completely poppy, but Beauty/Psycho had enough Fall Out Boy in its veins to satisfy me. It has been a great journey listening to this band, and I can’t believe there is only one left that I haven’t listened to yet. If it is anything like the previous two, I’m sure I will find it another great piece of music. With American Beauty/American Psycho, Fall Out Boy proves their versatility, an impressive quality that not very many bands have. Highlights: Irresistible, Centuries, The Kids Aren’t Alright, Uma Thurman, Jet Pack Blues, Fourth of July, and Immortals.
