    Silverbacks cram a lot of music into their songs, making each one a densely packed mix of angular guitar riffs and jittery alt-rock, often played with chops, alternating boy/girl vocals, and a need for shouted, repeating phrases. It is an acquired taste that often perks up the ears and brings pleasure but just as often fails to carry a melody and disappoints.

    Their debut "Fad" was an excellent and exciting introduction. "Archive Material" is even better. The guitars still have that Pavementy fashionable cool feel, the bass sound is still incredible. The slacker rock reference point is still valid but album number 2 does progress things for Silverbacks. There is a little added substance and more confidence in the band as they go about their business. On album number 2, the Dublin outfit have given us the same thing again but have improved on it. A hard trick to pull off. This is a really solid record that leaves most of the recent British post punk offerings in the dust.… Full Review »
