There's a playful quality to the chunky adrenalin-soaked fuzz the duo create. [Jul 2015, p.86]

There is nuance in the songwriting that, in discovery, has helped Slaves write good album, not just a collection of good songs. [16 May 2015, p.52]

Hey’s attempt at menace is overegged and the violence just sounds cartoonish--but the abundance of winning songs elsewhere makes such minor flaws forgivable.

The riffs of songs such as Wow!!!7am or Hey or Do Something are strong enough, but the formula “riff, primitive bash of drums, bellowed chorus” wears thin pretty quickly.

The real charm of this record comes in its additional moments of character; the spoken-word interruptions (‘Do Something’) or soundbite introductions (‘She Wants Me Now’) which somehow tie the album together even more tightly.

True, like an armful of regrettable tattoos it may have transitory allure, but its nasty, brutish and short appeal will do for now. [Jul 2015, p.104]

Their roots are mainly in hardcore punk and that definitely shines through in their music, and they've fused all these influences into new, unique styles. Tracks like "The Hunter" and "Do Something" best represent their capabilities and showcase their enormous energy. I'm really enjoying what this duo is doing and I'm certainly hyped up for their second album which is getting released at the end of this month, Expand
