Aug 16, 2019Atonement is an emotionally compelling record that explores concepts of finding strength in one’s being. Between the raw intensity of the instrumentation and vocals, as well as the inspirational elements throughout each song, Killswitch Engage offer a very solid addition to their discography.
Aug 16, 2019Hints are abundant that they are on the cusp of stylistic and sonic evolutions balancing bold and experimental elements, but their commitment to the material, as well as their energy and focus, aren't forced but are occurring naturally. This is easily the band's strongest outing since Leach's return.
Classic Rock MagazineAug 20, 2019Nobody will pretend Atonement is a classic. But it is firmly fired up. [Sep 2019, p.82]
Aug 16, 2019Coming in cold, it’s another Killswitch Engage album – metal that punches and screams with an effectiveness and accuracy of attack that is ingrained from experts in their field doing their thing for a long time. But in knowing the journey of its creation, it gains a character and a level of emotion that would otherwise be absent.

It sounds more like a melodic death metal album than a metalcore album (with the riffs). Vocally, Jesse Leach sounds the best he has ever sounded. Their second track into the album features former vocalist Howard Jones and the blend of Howard and Jesse together was a special treat to life long fans of this band (like I am). I think this is one of the best albums in 2019 by far and could be the metal album of the year for me. This is a very solid album that has everything you are looking for in a album.… Expand
