Fans will already know that this is a strong, alert Dave album, as Dave albums go. [Aug 2013, p.86]

Away from the World is a bit of a rare thing: a return to form lacking an ounce of nostalgia.

The instrumentation throughout is flawless, with careful guitar, exacting percussion, and funky violin swirls all blending into that signature Dave Matthews Band sound.
  4. In short, a few stray hiccups only gives a listener more reason to be excited for the next release.

Restrained, moody and subtle. It has its big footprint moments, of course, and there's an audible ambition that gives the album a crackling if slow-burning energy.

Though Matthews occasionally splashes around in shallow lyrics, the band overall cooks, fleshing out these tunes in an integral way.

[Away From the World] serves up the Matthews magic in all its musically tight, emotionally bumfuzzled splendor.

Dave sings about love, his relationship with his fan base and the current state of the world in his eyes. The music behind the words is ambitious hitting multiple genres sometimes even on the same song. The only thing missing is Leroi Moore. Full Review »

DMB you did it again :) Full Review »
