Dwight proves that one can exist and thrive outside of the "mainstream." His well-documented blend of 3-5 different musical styles continues to work because, simply, very few other artists do it. The man's lyrics are rarely discussed, his formulations are evocative and intelligent. Plus, he rocks. Watch out though, because you'll be grooving and then suddenly some massive steel Dwight proves that one can exist and thrive outside of the "mainstream." one of the strongest country albums of the last few years... the bakersfield sound is there, ditto the retro sound of chris isaak... the presentation of how his `woman done left him` almost sounds like he's trying to make one last communication with his fallen comrade warren zevon... highly recommended!

Its not just because my dad gets drunk and passes out to Dwight blaring every single night that I believe in the stern sentimentality that perseveres and flows through an album here-to-fore regarded as the Abbey Road of West Coast hillbilly entanaments

Wonderful CD. I don't think that it is as good as his older stuff, however it is still high quality. Dwight has gotta be one of the most under-rated artists in today's country music scene.

An excellent album by a master of the craft.

  1. This is inspired stuff from a rebel who still has plenty to offer.
  2. While the material seems to document the end of a relationship and the hope for romantic renewal, there's a freewheeling playfulness to the arrangements.
  3. His most inspired effort in years.
