There’s a common theme of relationships among many of the songs, with the ballads “Lonely Tonight” and “Anyone Else” coming away as the strongest of the bunch.

The uptempo songs are entertaining, but it's the ballad performances that set this disc apart.

Bringing Back the Sunshine brims with horn-dog hookup jams like "Sangria," where he makes a sloppy hotel-room encounter sound like the modern equivalent of a trip to Margaritaville.

Bringing Back the Sunshine is competent, but its sheer lack of variety, and over-reliance on trying to recapture the vibe of his previous effort sinks the album in a hurry. Best to label this one for die-hards only.

'Neon Light' was an impressive lead single, but while listening to the album, I wanted to be impressed by some other song, but i just wasn't. The whole thing feels rushed and impractical. Sorry Blake. The 1/10 I'm giving you is for 'Neon Light', and maybe the Ashley Monroe collab. Expand
