  • Summary: The self-titled debut album for the supergroup was formed by Van Halen's Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 1 out of 5
  2. Negative: 0 out of 5
  1. Co-produced by Andy Johns (Van Halen), the set captures the fun energy of a mind-blowing all-star jam: Satriani's fretwork is surprisingly raw, loose and gritty, while Smith channels John Bonham more than once.

Surprisingly, though, it's all a damn sight better than Velvet Revolver. [Sep 2009, p.81]

The resulting album is, as expected, old school chest-beating man-size heavy rock. [Jul 2009, p.104]
  4. 'Avenida Revolution,' which concerns the Tijuana drug wars, is a tiresome slice of sub-Metallica rock. But more upbeat tracks like 'Sexy Little Thing' boast the kind of party-happy groove you might expect from a band whose frontman is almost as famous for ?tequila as music.
  5. All this means is that Chickenfoot's big picture is roughly in place but the pieces don't quite fit, but that doesn't stop the group from trying to force it, with Sammy sounding as awkward singing about south-of-the-border drug runners as Satriani does spinning off complicated riffs on party rockers.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 9 out of 12
  2. Negative: 1 out of 12

Very Zeppelinesque rock. If ur into old school hard rock you'll love this. If you're expecting something new or expecting something Very Zeppelinesque rock. If ur into old school hard rock you'll love this. If you're expecting something new or expecting something similar to satriani's solo stuff, you will be disappointed. I love this though. Collapse

I put this cd in after relentless begging from the bf...surprisingly it was good! Sounded a bit like VanHalen-esque but overall, pretty darn good. I've found myself jamming out more than once, without being prompted. Wink. Expand

It's worse than the critics give it credit for. "Lost in sea of rock cliches".
I was so disappointed that 4 of my heroes could produce this
