Chubbed Up+ feels like a bit of a stopgap between this year's Divide And Exit and a new album scheduled for early next year, but it nonetheless has much to recommend it. [Jan 2015, p.92]

This isn’t music that seems as if it’s got much room for manoeuvre or development. For the moment, though, they seem genuinely vital in a way few other bands are.

At its best, Chubbed Up plays like a withering exit interview from pop culture; taken with Austerity Dogs and Divide and Exit, it shows Sleaford Mods' music is becoming more vital with each release.

Chubbed Up is a fairly relentless critique that, were it not for Williamson’s way with words, would be phenomenally depressing. Fortunately, these songs are mostly loaded with an equal share of pinsharp comedic observations and scathing invective.

Serious though he may intend to be, through the combination of Williamson’s Mr. Angry rants and Andrew Fearn’s tinny keyboards, Sleaford Mods do have a tendency to sound like a bit of a novelty.
