    Everything has been tightened up just a little bit. The sound is fuller. This is a great band hitting its stride. The album somehow fell beneath the radar but I’m with Chris Cantalini - it’s one of the best LPs of the year.

    Everything is ordered, nothing is left to chance, and with a clear path of progression. For the chilly yet soothing soundworld it conjures, it is endlessly replayable. Medicine never tasted this good.

    So whilst Closer to Grey may not have been the album many had been anticipating, and despite it feeling like a stop-gap, there is certainly much to admire here.

    This is world weary pop, but it’s completely uncynical. Reserved and melodramatic at the same time, it doesn’t worry about the incongruities, satisfied to be both wilted and very alive.
