Even when the songs sound coherent and have some interesting moments, the jarring beats still come on as incessantly aggressive with no actual power, inspiration, or deeper statement driving the noise.

While it aims to push boundaries, CLPPNG does so in a way that demonstrates a love for the music and culture that forms its source material.

The variety of the record is tied together with a strong story-thread that prides itself on being cohesive.

CLPPNG makes a sterling argument for the intersection of noise and hip-hop tropes.

An uncharacteristically difficult end to a record that’s not quite a paradigm smasher, but a must-hear for anyone who likes their hip-hop weird and with teeth.

CLPPNG is the work of hip hop auteurs delivering the shock of the new. [Jul 2014, p.88]
  7. Clipping's nightmare is riveting, particularly during its sweat-inducing peak 'Get Up', which uses an alarm clock as a beat underneath breakneck verses.

The record lacks vision, direction, clarity.

This was, at least until two days ago, the most ambitious and powerful underground hip-hop album to be released this year. But leave it to Death Grips to drop a surprise record on us and steal the spotlight from their fellow Californians. We’ll have to wait before we find out which one stands the test of time, but for the moment, advantage: Clipping.

Overall, CLPPNG is chock full of ideas, and if its failure is due to overambitiousness, well, there are worse ways to fail.

CLPPNG is a more focused release that separates Clipping. from their experimental peers.

Never does this album sound more genuine than when it's low-key, because it's then that Clipping. foregoes the satire--the very lifeblood that runs through CLPPNG's veins.

They’re not ceasing their distinct punk-rap, but they’re offering a new portion of the spectrum. If you found it had to stomach their previous material, CLPPNG will provide you a rope, from which you can drag yourself into their miscreant lair. Fair warning: they may not let you leave.

CLPPNG is an excellent, beautifully-executed record.

A very dope and sick hip-hop record, where the trio push the boundaries of hip-hop even further sonically. A great follow up from Midcity.A very dope and sick hip-hop record, where the trio push the boundaries of hip-hop even further sonically. A great follow up from Midcity.

Featured artist tended to lack in quality, however clipping made up for this through a gripping story line and seamless transitions between songs. Overall my First and only listen was pleasurable. The experimental-ness of this album is just great. Alot of these tracks make use of many obscure sounds and somehow make them just very great. The experimental-ness of this album is just great. Alot of these tracks make use of many obscure sounds and somehow make them just very great. like on the track "Get Up" the songs whole beat is just an alarm clock going off and somehow, they managed to make it sound good. Daveed's rapping is absolutely FIRE aswell.
