Whereas Puscifer's early output exercised his funny bone, the rather brilliant Conditions Of My Parole exorcises it. [15 Oct 2011, p.52]

The singer continues to exude a sophistication that raises the bar for aggressive rockers who can mature with both grace and continued relevance. [Nov 2011, p.93]

While the album can, at times, feel unfocused, that's also the point of a project like Puscifer, which allows us to take a look inside the mind of one of the most creative frontmen of the last 20 years.

Too many songs build and build and never explode, and though Keenan has never sounded growlier, Parole never really breaks loose.

Conditions of My Parole, featuring a supporting cast that includes Keenan's son Devo and ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore, reveals a more reassuring side of a singer better known for willful alienation.

Despite a more eclectic stylistic palette, his sophomore Puscifer album is just as moody and dramatic as those other projects.

Lucky for Conditions of My Parole, Puscifer has graduated from embarrassingly stupid to simply boring. [#81, p. 59]

But after listening to this album my opinion has completely changed, every song is fantastic, you can tell that Maynard really put his heart and soul into this record, this may actually be my favorite album of this year, please give this album a chance, it is an amazing, and well-crafted piece of art. I probably would've ignored it if it hadn't been for a recommendation from my English teacher. But, listen I did, and the only thing I can say is Thanks, [aforementioned English teacher]. The music on this album is some of the best I've ever heard, and I'd rate this among Maynard James Keenan's greatest achievements. I'd rate this album above Tool's "10,000 Days". Easily one of my top five albums, and the best I've heard this year. Expand
