The Wants debut is bold, daring and incredibly effective. Separating itself from the regular indie noise, Container is an album that tells a compound narrative while experimenting cleverly with fine attention to detail.

Interspersed throughout are dark, ambient instrumentals ‘Machine Room’, ‘Aluminum’, ‘Waiting Room’ and ‘Voltage’. This adds an extra layer of claustrophobia and menace, but also feels like the band are padding out a very good eight-track album into 12 songs. Still that’s a minor quibble – as ‘Container’ is a masterful statement of intent destined straight for the top of your lock-down dance party playlist.

The overarching atmosphere is masterful, a sense of brimming anxiety that unites even as it unsettles. [Apr 2020, p.37]

While it's sometimes flawed and almost always derivative, Container is compelling enough to make one believe their next proclamation will be worth hearing.

”Container” is a worthy application and a good credit of trust for further interest in this group.

Cheeky and interesting, sometimes hot, sometimes anxious. I love it when music drags the tail of gothic glamor. And this music makes me feel like that. Many tracks are quite atmospheric due to the use of third-party sounds. Thus, the group The Wants and their debut album were sufficiently interested to remember, listen and wait for a creative continuation.
