This remains the Gallagher brothers' finest hour, and one of the great debuts of the last 20 years. [No. 109, p.57]

Upon its release in 1994, Definitely Maybe sounded messy and thrilling. Now, of course, it sounds like a classic. [Jun 2014, p.127]

In spite of everything that Oasis would become on record, on stage, in the tabloids, Definitely Maybe stands above it all.

Though true sub-notes of contemplation are hard to find in Noel’s initial tranche of songs, there’s vulnerability in his solo version of Half The World Away recorded live in a Tokyo hotel room on September 16, 1994, as Oasis madness spiralled in earnest. It’s this expanded edition’s one true unreleased gem. [Jun 2014, p.102]

It’s impossible to consider this release outside of its original context. With no other albums to compare this to at the time, it sounded life affirming, with its promise of white lines, gin and tonics and taking us away.

Oasis' debut remains one of the most gloriously loutish odes to cigarettes, alcohol and dumb guitar solos that the British Isles have ever coughed up. This deluxe three-disc reissue captures the madness of the Gallagher brothers' early days.

Definitely Maybe is the sound of people who feel like they need to scream to be heard—and even then, the chances of anyone actually listening seems depressingly unlikely. And yet, not wholly impossible.

Packaged with some afterthe-event boisterousness courtesy of Neil McCormick’s sleevenotes and a sprinkling of mythologising, Definitely Maybe remains classic enough.

Don’t be surprised if this box set doesn’t drastically change your preconceived notions of what this already-iconic album is about, but for those who think the Gallagher’s never got better than this, consider this the only Oasis box set you will ever need.

If Definitely Maybe still sounds pretty much as Noel envisaged, that's certainly to do with the quality of the songs, the delivery and the timing. [Jun 2014, p.95]

Definitely Maybe: Chasing the Sun provides a timely reminder why he [Liam Gallagher] and his former band are still held with such high regard.

For those of us willing to succumb to a little bit of irony and absorb several hours' worth of Oasis stuff, here it is, and everyone else can join the Gallaghers of the world and complain amongst themselves.

This is where it all began and stands as a bench mark of what a great album should be. You probably already own this but if not then get it. This brought guitar music back to the masses and put simply is one of the best albums of all time. Full Review »

The 3 disc re-release sounds awesome and any Oasis fan will quickly run through the album and the bonus 2 discs in no time. Love it. 10/10 Full Review »
