    Though “experimental” may be a bit of an overstatement, the best parts of Delta prove that, in the hands of the right producer, Mumford & Sons remain capable of recording radio-ready earworms that challenge expectations (a little, at least) while still retaining the major qualities that made them superstars in the first place.

    It’s a series of surprisingly coherent and original steps forward, followed by a series of steps both backwards and sideways. I’d venture to say that’s better than continuing to rummage around the status quo at least, even if the cumulative results are still decidedly average.

    Sonically more varied than their past albums. When it's good, it's spectacular. Wild Heart in particular is just gorgeous. It's also niceSonically more varied than their past albums. There are occasional missteps (like the appearance of the dreaded click percussion track on Rose of Sharon/Darkness Visible). But overall I've found it worth listening and listening to.… Expand

Yes, there is some build up in the songs as we are used to from Mumford, but not nearly as much as in their golden days.

    The band claims this album is very close to themselves, which is probably the reason for it being more of an emotional journey through the lyrics than an album aimed to please the charts. This is bold and brave, but also takes away some of the Mumford and Sons magic.    … Expand

For a band known for their no frills, band to the front live performances I fear this will all get lost in translation. Would you ever imagine M&S even considering using auto-tune?     Not a solid album, not good, full of fillers and only one good song. This same-sounding album doesn't deserve to top the charts.
