Departure isn't merely a psychedelia record cut with Suicide-aping proto-punk. These eight songs wrestle free of that assumption, flying off in myriad directions.

The duo have set themselves up nicely in a burgeoning genre and whilst their likeness for monochrome isn’t exactly bright, their future surely is.

Jared Artaud and Brian MacFadyen pack a pummeling version of cultural vacancy, though they're a tad predictable. [Sep 2014, p.93]
  4. Jul 3, 2014
Departure is an ambitious and brave debut, one that reveals a lot of promise and an awfully big sound for just two players.
  5. Under The Radar
    Sep 5, 2014
    Departure gets by on diverting--not mesmerizing--drone. [Sep/Oct 2014, p.106]
  6. Jul 3, 2014
This album can't be written off purely as a repetitive mess--this is the sound they were going for, after all, and when they rely less heavily on repetition, drones, and electronics, they find some decent material.
