This is Wilson's most potent release to date, its title referencing a subtle fudging of classic country tropes with more modern textures. [Apr 2020, p.93]

This generous outpouring of songcraft from Wilson is one to savor over many listens. It’s the perfect hot toddy for these winter days, or, said another way, a harbinger of early spring.

It’s safe to say Wilson is feeling a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll on Dixie Blur, and as with his other albums, the stylistic tweaks fit him like a glove.

Dixie Blur is Wilson's most personal and direct collection of songs. They are wrought poetically from memory and inspired by the excellence of the sublime performances from his sidemen.

This is an album that lovers of Wilson’s music of old will delight in.

This is an impeccably put-together record. [Apr 2020, p.37]

Jonathan Wilson is the author of my second favorite álbum of 2018. With a lot of emotion I listen to his new project "Dixie Blur" that, even if it leaves me with a lot to wish, it also proves him as a genius producer and musical visionary. Along with Pat Sansone, Jonathan Wilson knows how to intercalate and add instruments to his Western and Country narrative of this story. The music, even if it is complete and well-integrated in the technical aspects, it deserts its public with too much sensibility. His duel and reflection are heavy enough to appeal to the public with specific experiences and tastes. Interesting to hear but not very entertaining.
