Skylar Grey is just OK. I wouldn't see her live but I would buy her next CD. "Don't Look Down" has good songs like "Sunshine" and "C'mon Let Me Ride", but has bad songs like "White Suburban". But buy it if you like Evanescence. They both share similarities

Even a goofy Eminem cameo (the "Allen Iverson of safe sex") can't save "C'mon Let Me Ride" from sounding like an over-the-top hookup plea, and "Final Warning," a domestic-violence drama, feels vaguely like tabloid fodder.

Befitting someone who has worked with artists as varied as Dre, Duncan Sheik, and Linkin Park offshoot Fort Minor, Don’t Look Down suits varied moods.

For Ms. Grey, angst, melody and a hip-hop backbone are a promising combination.
