Champs deserve to be gracing grander environs on the back of this album, and while that may not happen, Down Like Gold does ensure that they’ll have thousands of eyes trained on them when they make their next move.

    [A] dazzling folk-pop crush. [Mar 2014, p.94]

An album of summer anthems this is not, then, and its collision of sorrow-tinged dreaminess and ethereal symphonies ensure it’s not just good wallowing material, but good material full stop.
  6. Apr 1, 2014
Down Like Gold showcases the duo's harmony-laden, folk, and indie pop sound.
  7. Mar 4, 2014
A warm and personable record then, but one that doesn’t put its head above the parapet often enough to properly engage.
