Jun 6, 2019Testament to its addictive charm, Erotic Reruns leaves the listener yearning for an extension to the album’s near half an hour running time.
-
Jun 10, 2019Though Erotic Reruns doesn’t have any of the awe-inspiring moments of some of Yeasayer’s early work, it’s a solid album from start to finish, trimmed of all fat and without a bad note. A few more compositional risks would’ve served the band well, but as a whole the album finds the Brooklyn band in top form, packing its nine songs with dance-hall energy, commanding grooves, and song compositions that stretch the limits of pop music while remaining easy to digest.
-
Jun 6, 2019Streamlining arrangements and song structures more so than in the past, the album's pop-leaning blend of dance-funk and the softer side of classic album rock is their most accessible yet.
-
Jun 6, 2019What the album lacks in fine-tuning it makes up for in sheer experiential pleasure. It’s a half hour bop for the American experiment’s gradual decay.
-
Jun 13, 2019A slight and unwaveringly safe 30 minutes, it goes down easier than anything the band has ever done, while making less of an impression.
-
Jun 11, 2019For the Yeasayer fans who enjoy their stranger stylings, this will fall out of rotation quicker than others; that doesn't make it bad, just not a favorite.
-
Jun 12, 2019These songs don’t live nicely in any genre, and suffer under the weight of attempting cross-pollination.
