The production, especially early on in the album, is revolutionary. It sounds like nothing else we've heard in country in a while. However, the song writing is very, very, very, poor. All her songs are about relationships, which is fine, but she does not say anything new, insightful, uplifting, or heartbreaking. This tasteful collection is best represented by McBride;s cover of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes' "If You Don't Know Me By Now," matching her satin to the original's velvet. [May 2014, p.77]
