However, while "Paralysed" and "All of the Places" are huge disappointments, some songs are definetely on par with previous Travis albums. Radio Song is probably one of their best singles so far which has potential to be aired on a radio (no pun intended). Was waiting for something better, but still a great job, Travis.… Expand

    Following from "Where You Stand", an album which I deemed to be a slight disappointment on Travis's behalf, I expected a more concise set ofFollowing from "Where You Stand", an album which I deemed to be a slight disappointment on Travis's behalf, I expected a more concise set of tracks this time around. True, my wish was granted, as nothing on here stoops as low as to reach the levels of "Reminder" or "New Shoes", yet nothing really blows me away either. My favourite track on here, "Animals", had so much potential to be truly fantastic, and whilst it still certainly hits the mark, it just strikes me as resembling a fairly weak Manic Street Preachers song. "Radio Song" and the title track are also decent tracks to take from this record, the latter sporting a big chorus that hits you flat in the face (sung by Dougie Payne), and I also appreciate the vaguely 'grandiose' intent the band had with "Paralysed". But once you've sat through the comprehensive bore-fest that is "All of the Places" and realised that nothing substantial is to come afterwards, you can't help recalling once again that underwhelming feeling. Overall, it's a decent record, nothing amazing yet nothing truly awful, but I'm sure the band are still capable of producing something fantastic, as long as they just pull their fingers out next time.
