Everything Harmony us certainly a darker chapter in the Twigs' story, but their songwriting has become more nuanced. [Jun 2023, p.90]

The assured, varied, and ear-pleasing Everything Harmony raises anticipation for whatever choices the Lemon Twigs will make next.

The hooks arrive one after another and the key change at the end pushes the song's catchiness over the top. The softer songs on the album see the Twigs return to some of the Baroque pop influences they built their earliest albums on, but clear away some of the extraneous sounds that could clutter that material.

While the first third of the LP shows a band more focused than ever, the lack of playfulness proves a detriment going into the middle chunk of Everything Harmony. ... The third to last track, “Ghost Run Free”, offers hope for fans.

On this album, the Twigs fully integrate their influences into a sound all their own. The opening track, Brian D’addario’s When Winter ComesOn this album, the Twigs fully integrate their influences into a sound all their own. The opening track, Brian D’addario’s When Winter Comes Around, is a baroque chamber pop meditation on death and renewal that establishes the central tension of the album—an intertwining of harmony and dischord. Brother Michael D’addario picks up the theme with the plaintive and disintegrating beauty of Still It’s Not Enough. Ghost Run Free is the power pop smash single that always should have been, yet never was. What You Were Doing idiosyncratically mourns a relationship while it pays clear homage to the late, great Alex Chilton, re-imagining a Big Star that survived well into the 80s and beyond—and it’s just one of the best rock and roll songs I’ve ever heard. Other highlights include Corner of My Eye, the grand What Happens to a Heart, and New to Me. All in all, the album suggests a creative leap forward that The Twigs just might sustain for a series of albums to come. They say their next album is nearly finished and have written “thousands” of songs, so it’s a safe bet that we will find out just how good The Lemon Twigs really are. Still, Everything Harmony proves that they are pretty damn good. Expand

I was about to declare myself not fit for this very rococo or baroque rock, but this is a way to shift things a little nicer. The very same soul of the band can be found in the complete project, but the direction of the album, the lyrics and the concept is something a little more relatable and easy to return to. The Lemon Twigs has taken their particularities and made a project for everyone who feels as peculiar as them. Nice work. Expand
