Feel Something is never anything less than enthralling in its mushy melodies and gossamer vocals that’ll have many crushing on this record through the cold months.

On their 2014 record, Feel Something, the History of Apple Pie do a fine job of delivering a second album that has much of the same sterling properties as their debut, while giving their guitar noise with sugar-sweet melodies some tweaks here and there, just enough to serve as a progression instead of an unwanted stylistic leap into mediocrity.

Very occasionally there is an element of mediocrity and you do feel that they could easily raise themselves to the next level, but for now this is another delicious helping of Apple Pie. Tuck in.

They have evolved from the formula of the debut album, delivering a better album without compromising that which made them good in the first place.

The History of Apple Pie have no illusions that they're reinventing the wheel, but Feel Something should silence critics who dismissed the group as another example of record collection rock.

The standard of hook is pretty consistent for the whole album, and there's very little that could be described as filler. It's just that, considering that the whole seems like an exercise in similitude, it's not that easy to get excited about.

Feel Something is a so-so listen that never rises above the band’s influences.

It’s nice enough to pass the time with, but certainly not a staple record worth revisiting time and time again.

They know their indie rock template very well. The fault is how little distance they're able to create from any other given band.

The problem is The History of Apple Pie managed to fork over 10 songs of generic, sugared pop that’s almost entirely forgettable by the time dinner rolls around.
