It’s a lot to delve into. As much a scholarly treatise as serious source material, the relit Flaming Pie is finally served up with the stature it deserves.

All of the pieces in the box set complete a puzzle that explains how McCartney found himself again and hit the stride that has propelled him to the present day.

From the off, Flaming Pie sounds like the work of a man comfortable with his past. ... The 2CD and 3LP sets will appeal to those not willing to shell out hundreds – they cherry-pick the best of the home demos, outtakes and B-sides.

These sweetly sad songs are the ones that linger, and they’re served well by their earliest incarnations as home recordings and demos that serve as bonus tracks on both the double-disc reissue and companion 5-CD/2-DVD edition.

A master album that opens a new path in Paul's music. Years later he continues to release great music, more mature and more lucid.

"Flaming Pie" is the standout solo record for McCartney from the 90's. This is possibly due to the absolute lack of quality in his material"Flaming Pie" is the standout solo record for McCartney from the 90's. This is possibly due to the absolute lack of quality in his material released over the preceding 15 years or so than anything else. It is a return to form comparatively and has a half a dozen good tracks but whether it is actually a great record would be questionable. Expand
