Sep 1, 2016This is grand, unapologetic doom metal that should also fit fans of symphonies, post-rock bands, and alt-rock radio. And this is writing so rich that it raises deep, pressing questions about our very existence with richly written scenes and sharply posed worries.

Sep 1, 2016More Constant than the Gods and Battle of Ages have a lot of overlap sonically speaking, but they also hold their own.
-
Sep 30, 2016Overall, Battle of Ages is a genuinely impressive release. More than your standard bro doom, it’s got reach, smarts and heart.

Sep 1, 2016Having had their murky fun, Sarah Pendleton and Kim Pack emerge with the confidence and breadth to wring every ounce of emotion out of their instruments.
-
The WireOct 21, 2016The songs' parts don't always transition as smoothly as the listener might like, making them feel like a long sequence of moments rather than a single, shifting musical experience. ... Still, when Pack and Pendleton are gliding above the battlefield, voices and violins arcing slowly around one another, there's a real beauty here. [Sep 2016, p.56]

Sep 1, 2016For This We Fought the Battle of Ages doesn’t feel like it surpasses space and time, or bridges a gap between consciousness and dreams. Once it’s over, it’s forgotten fairly easily, save maybe a couple of Vernon’s stronger melodies. It digs its nails into your scalp, but doesn’t truly grab at the psyche.
