Twin Shadow manages to stand out in a cluttered genre thanks to world-beating, danceable hooks and a surfeit of style.
  2. Although Forget might not usher in a new musical era, it's a near-flawless album and certainly one of the most impressive debuts we've ever seen. It might not change your life, but it will bury itself deep into your brain and make you feel good and warm for a couple of days.
  3. Lewis may be covering territory that a lot of other artists tread, but he's earnest and soulful, injecting the romantic lyrics with a smoothness that reminds me of Avalon-era Roxy Music.

Lewis has made a striking debut that delights in the most surprising of ways.

It's a mark of the album's strength that there aren't many standouts: there aren't any weak tracks either.

A daydream-like haze smudges the crispness of the beats while Lewis sings his osmotic melodies, his tones akin to Richard Swift gone disco.

Co-produced in the US by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, Twin Shadow is assured hipster status in his adopted New York home. [Jan 2011, p.142]

This lo-fi artist is the best this genre has till today, he combines it with simplicity and harmony to create some chill-tasty music. Really not a single bad song on the entire album but "At My Heels" "Slow" and "When We're Dancing" are especially excellent. Definitely one of the top albums of the year and one that you can see having staying power. Expand

Cracking good record for a debut. As you'll have read - it's got a bit of an 80's vibe going on - lots of synths. Twin Shadow is really goodCracking good record for a debut. As you'll have read - it's got a bit of an 80's vibe going on - lots of synths. Twin Shadow is really good at making his songs atmospheric and giving them a kind of "feel". There is a predominantly dark feel to the record, like some of Depeche Modes better stuff but a bit more indie and a lot more chilled out. Mostly very good songs and really looking forward to hearing his next effort. Expand

Jr hooks you in with the second track When Were Dancing which transports you to an 80's night club in downtown somewhere. The album has very floaty melodies that make you think of them long after you've finished the album. Fans of Grizzly Bear can feel the influence on some of the later tracks that feel more spacey and experimental. This isn't ground breaking music, but its an honest attempt to do it right. I'd give this album 7/10.
Key tracks to listen to; When Were Dancing, At My Heels, Castles In The Snow.
