    Change is what led them to write the album they needed to, and in turn, left us listeners with the album we needed to hear. Change reminds us that we didn’t know Every Time I Die like we thought we did--but they sure read us to a tee with From Parts Unknown.

    Every Time I Die have established themselves as one of the more reliable and relatable (in a nervy, dysfunctional way) acts to come out of the genre, not to mention one of the most discernable, and the commanding From Parts Unknown does nothing to tarnish that reputation.

    Easily the most overrated album of the year, and I would actually consider myself quite a fan of Every Time I Die, honestly. Those of us looking for a continuation of their older stuff and maybe even New Junk or Ex-Lives will be sorely disappointed. Album is chaotic (in a bad way), loud, and dissonant. I'll admit, I was hyped up when I heard about this but after hearing "Thirst" I was extremely disappointed. I figured the song was a fluke and decided to hear the rest upon release and it's all just as bad. "El Dorado" is pretty much the only tolerable song on here. This is new junk, but it's surely not aesthetic. How this garnered a 92 from critics boggles my mind. Guess I'll go back to listening to their old stuff. Let down is an understatement.… Full Review »

I just.... don't understand the hype for this album compared to their others? New Junk, Gutter Phenomenon and BD are all better all round packages. I think they have catchier hooks, are more recognisable and have more staying power...

    This album is faster (in tempo AND in that it lasts for just 30 or so minutes... that's enough time for you to make love to your mum and catch the last couple of chords), thrashy, a little bit more obvious on the riffery and ever so slightly messy round the edges. Which is both a gift and an anchor that leaves it dragging me back to the unavoidable theory that... their previous albums are just a little bit better.

    They are a **** brutal live band though, go check them out if you haven't already. Their energy and deliverance is on par.
