Every song on Fungus II aspires to soundtrack a twisted comic book or Hanna-Barbera cartoon about itself. Segall’s guitar and bass playing is wailing and distended while Chippendale lays down tight bursts of percussive fire. For the beetle-browed half hour this album lasts, these guys are here to party. [Apr 2020, p.63]

it's unashamedly full-on, Cro-Magnon stuff, but this chaos is often glorious. [Apr 2020, p.87]

And indeed, kabong it does. Fun stuff.

Wasted Shirt is a collaborative project in the best sense, as the strengths of both Segall and Chippendale are at the forefront on Fungus II, and if this album is less accessible than most of Segall's recent releases, it has excitement and daring to spare.
  5. Uncut

Touches of stoner metal in "Four Strangers Enter The Cement At Dusk" or a deeper psychedelic bent on "Harsho" offer variety, but the name of the game is sheer glee. [Apr 2020, p.37]

Wasted Shirt might not immediately hit the expected highs, but the anything-can-happen jam session feeling hints that the duo has more to offer in the future and Fungus II is just the cap and stem of a larger organism underneath.
  7. Feb 28, 2020

Unrefined and uninhibited, Fungus II is a visceral journey through layers of chaos that refuse to be subdued. Wasted Shirt's first record makes it clear that the two have teamed up to indulge their impulses and then blow them up.
