  1. Fortunately, the huge elemental diversity on G&G is more spread out than on previous efforts, leaving breathing room and allowing each well-crafted sound to sink in.
  2. Gold and Green finds its mark far more consistently than Kila, despite being a far more expansive and rambling album.
  3. 'Gold And Green' is such a joyous rattlebag of a record, so untrammelled by convention and received wisdom that it tends to make Keiran Hebden's last effort sound a bit like mid 90s stoner trip hop.

Definitely the earbuds experience of the month. [Oct 2005, p.85]

A joyous, uninhibited and painlessly adventurous ride. [Oct 2005, p.124]

Casts Yoshimi as a manic priestess espousing the various virtues of the universal religion of rhythm. [#69, p.105]
  7. It is arguable that Gold & Green is the link between Super AE and the Bores’ much feted neo-psych masterpiece, Vision Creation Newsun.
  8. Gold and Green may be the band's most approachable album, but as with all their releases, it's a charming reminder that experimental music doesn't have to sound like it was hard work to make.
  9. Under The Radar

Few albums have so deliriously melded Kraut-rock, avant-prog, and experimental minimalism into a surprisingly approachable whole. [#11, p.116]
  10. Gold and Green holds some wonderful sounds -- and others that just seem strange for the sake of being strange.

OOIOO instill Boredoms' cosmic clatter with an air of genre-bursting adventure and mischief. [Nov 2005, p.108]

OOIOO are truly creative. This album has a strong psychedelic and krautrock touch and sparse melodies that could go on forever. If you like OOIOO are truly creative. No wonder Sonic Youth asked them to open some of their concerts : it's noisy, crafted, with big hints of jazz. It's also the most No wonder Sonic Youth asked them to open some of their concerts : it's noisy, crafted, with big hints of jazz. It's also the most astounding psychedelic record I've heard in long times. Sometimes it sounds like old school Herbie Hancock mixed with loads of ethnic sounds and noisy guitars ("I'm a song"). OOIOO is far superior to the Boredoms, and that says how gifted and original these four Japanese girls are. Brilliant. Full Review »
