Country appropriation has been en vogue for the better part of the 2010s. And almost all of these have genre explorations have ended as disasters. Of course Minogue eventually saddles up to ride her be-glittered pony to the rodeo, late. And what she serves on Golden is more or less like a golden shower. It sounds good in theory, but the end result is a mess that you regret. Minogue shouldCountry appropriation has been en vogue for the better part of the 2010s. I don't know what she was thinking, nut this is not her. It looks like she was just trying to surf on the trends. There is no authenticy in this.

Golden is just a compilation of boring and dull love songs, just like every damn song Kylie has ever done. Golden has no concept, no personality, nothing. At least in her other albums there were a few tracks which I listened to, but Golden is completely useless in all of its 16 songs.

Kylie is known for disco pop, not country.

This is a horrible album. THE WORST.

Ultimately, there is a place for this kind of music, but it feels horribly dated.

Apart from the smattering of country inflections, there are no great surprises in store.
  3. As a pop product, the album performs its function--and it’s commendable of Minogue to experiment with a different sound. It’s just a shame to hear a pop queen like Kylie seeming to buy into tacky generic artifice because it happens to be in vogue.
