This record feels like half reboot and half memoir. She goes out of her way to acknowledge the fact she’s not a teenager anymore, but with a gentle defiance, a little nostalgia and a subtle change in direction that makes Golden both touching but also really good fun.

While country signifiers abound, from foot-stomping to fiddling, the songs on Golden also smartly juxtapose contemporary pop elements like soaring synth hooks and pitched-up vocals.

She and her team of musicians, writers and producers straddle the line between twang and glitter on just about every song; sometimes it leans more in favor of line dancing, sometimes the glitter ball takes over, especially on the shimmering "Raining Glitter.". Sometimes, like on "Live A Little" or the very hooky single "Dancing," it's the best of both worlds.

Golden is bereft of relative stinkers, but there's little to bring listeners back.

While aesthetic shifts have been crucial to her career, Golden feels like the first time the window dressing is a distraction from a flawed yet deeply admirable album.

Though the Nashville experiment is finally too half-hearted for the desired transformation, “Shelby ’68” mines Melbourne memories for a more personalised rural makeover.
  7. 50
Ultimately, there is a place for this kind of music, but it feels horribly dated.

It's not as much country as first expected but it is certainly A classic Kylie album. This album brings a warmth, authenticity and insight that we haven't seen from Kylie for decades and her vocals convey more emotion than ever before. There are moments when the country production is ramped up a little but do not be mistaken, it's more of a country flavour rather than a country album. Overall the writing, vocals and production produces possibly the most genuinely Kylie album we have ever seen. Expand

Maybe is not her best album but is a good return for this amazing person. The sounds are greats and the lyrics cutes.

Kylie is known for disco pop, not country.

This is a horrible album. THE WORST.
