A far cry from ‘Magnolia’ and even ‘Peripheral Vision’, Good Nature is proof that experimentation can pay off. And though not so left-of-centre as to be inaccessible, it’s still a richly nuanced record that reveals more of itself with each listen.

2015's Peripheral Vision was indeed more dynamic and, for that reason, might remain their strongest effort for the time being. But let yourself sink into Good Nature, and you'll find yourself in a place of idyllic beauty.

On the whole Good Nature brightly evokes the feeling of leaving your room and opening the doors and stepping outside.

Good Nature plods along at a pleasant pace, but there's nothing here you won't have heard elsewhere before.

Good Nature recaptures the brightness and pop sheen, sure, but it's a trip back to a treasured childhood location only to find that the palace in your mind was always just a fallen tree, and the river your dreams used to float along forever is just a kinda gross, muddy little stream.

The straightforward melancholy that plagued Peripheral has been replaced with a more nuanced view of both the good and bad in life. Upbeat and simplified rhythms accompany catchy choruses on this 42 minute LP which drags at times. Expand
