All of the hallmarks of the band’s debut remain blissfully intact, and yet they’ve managed to engineer an LP with even more seemingly absurd outliers than minimalism and Radiophonic blips.

Pinkshinyultrablast have lifted their eyes from their laces to the skies. Superb. [Apr 2016, p.113]

Pinkshinyultrablast isn’t so much offering something new to or pushing shoegaze anywhere it hasn’t already been. They are flat out transcending it, offering a sound all their own that is frighteningly powerful and overwhelmingly beautiful.

Grandfeathered is another distinguished addition to an already impressive body of work.

Brash and bold, its juxtaposition of fragile synth lines and uncompromising slabs of aggression make for a compelling, if not occasionally familiar, listen.

Grandfeathered is no great progression from last year's Everything Else Matters, but there is genre-defying richness and depth to [the] tunes. [Apr 2016, p.78]

As impressively considered as the group are when it comes to their compositions, they evoke a cold feeling of invulnerability within their music that’s hard to avoid.

The band does a good job sonically and musically taking pointers from early shoegaze legends like MBV, Ride, the Cocteau Twins, and especially Slowdive in their most pop-flavored days. Grandfeathered, coming so soon after their previous record, is being eaten up by shoegaze fans just like its predecessor, and with good reason. The production is spot-on and the sound is like eating way too much candy at one time. However, I find little on this record that is musically adventurous or original. It is shoegaze_record_2.0, which is fine for big fans of the genre, but I have found myself drifting away from Grandfeathered on subsequent listens.
