HTE is cohesive and she gets more personal than ever, she proves to the world that she’s not just a one hit wonder and isn’t going anywhere soon, most sophmore albums turn out to be slumps but with the likes of Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, Lorde and many other artists whose sophomores turned out to be good, she’s shocking the world all at the age of 19. Poor singles but a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the album. My favourite track has to be the title track and billie bossa nova. Expand

this album is full of great singles and a stellar title track, however the album tracks are mediocre at best with poor lyricism and incomplete production that never really goes anywhere. she should continue in the sonic direction of post punk as displayed in the 10/10 title track.

This sophomore album from Billie further proves her creative ability, vocal ability, versatility, and Finneas' incredible ability to produce hit song after hit song.

This album starts off underwhelming. The first two tracks are bland and sound lazily produced. I don't mind minimal beats, but these sound too minimal. This is surprising coming from a producer like Finneas who is known for adding layers upon layers of sounds and vocals. The first track is extremely simple, which is in my opinion not good for an opening track. However, the lyrics on these first two tracks are great.

As we get towards the middle of the album, things start to pick up. We hear "my future" which is a beautiful showcase of Billie's vocal ability and the versatility of her musical style. We then hear "Oxytocin" which is a hard hitting song with catchy verses and incredibly unique, almost EDM like production from Finneas. "GOLDWING" starts off with a beautiful choir-like layered vocals with a clean beat switch. However, I think when Billie comes in on the beat switch her flow is very underwhelming and nothing that really catches my attention. The song does get a bit better as we go on, though. The last song I really enjoyed from this section of the album is "Halley's Comet". This is an emotional song that includes a beautiful piano with BIllie's signature soft vocals. It's a wonderful, relaxing, soothing track.

Near the end of the album are some of my favorites. The lyrics on "Your Power" hit hard, and so do Billie's vocals. She showcases her incredible vocal range and ability on this track, and it gives me goosebumps. "Happier Than Ever" is definitely a notable track. The slow, dreamy start is wonderful but the sort of rock beat switch near the middle is incredible and Finneas really just hit it home with this one.

The last track is simple, but not boring simple. The songwriting is amazing and keeps you wanting to hear more. BIllie's vocals on this are emotional and soft.

This album in conclusion was just good. I feel like her freshman album had less underwhelming production. If you compare this album to that album production wise, you can see how incredible the production is on her freshman album compared to her sophomore album, with there being so many less yawn-worthy tracks on the freshman album. Nearly every song on her freshman album keeps you hooked. However, lyrically, this album I'd say is a bit better, and the lyrics are very personal and take a dive into her fame ridden lifestyle.

It seems she is very influenced by the typical boring contemporary social-media-influencer-rnb. The old Billie darkness is still there at points but the songs are just so sub-par quality-wise that's in honestly difficult to listen to the album on one.go

The difference between the girl she was when she did the first EP and the debut album vs the woman she is now is clearly gonna affect the kind of art she produces.

She already peaked. This album ain’t it. Instead of doing a complete 180 on her style, girl should’ve stuck with her original roots, what made her unique. ela só fica pior com o tempo. sinto tanto, principalmente pela Interscope, que tá investido muita grana em alguém tão medíocre. Finneas é um grande produtor, ele salva a Billie. sem ele, ela é inútil.

I was really bored listening to it, there was at least 1 fun song in the debut, but there is no fun song in this album. BORING

This album has no connection, Billie delivers a meaningless job with lousy music

Even with her "advanced" songwriting for a 19-year-old, Billie Eilish's work still sounds tiresome. It's even funny how I fall asleep when the instrumental of one of her songs starts playing or she lets out her vocals. Her best track is, without a doubt, 'Happier Than Ever' who brought us a new sound for Billie than can – hopefully will be – used more in her upcoming projects. But I've already left my congratulations for the Grammys, because as we know that it will take many to home even without deserving it! Expand

oh dear. sorry to say this is essentially boring. not a progression, a sonic step back. i was hoping for something more fun and original, she has lost her edge :(

Her best lyrics yet. This album is vulnerable in a way that her 2019 album could not be; that is, her reveals here are subtle and softer, more pulled back. I love FINNEAS's production as usual. My favorite tracks are Getting Older, Halley's Comet, and the title track (whose latter half hits me every time).

However, I do wish she had made different choices in her single selection, just because some of the more high-energy tracks would've fared better as a single than "Lost Cause"or "Your Power." That's not to say I didn't love these songs, because I did. "Your Power" is particularly striking. This has nothing to do with the actual quality of the music. I will say that I really loved the order of this album. Its last track "Male Fantasy" is absolutely gorgeous.

Overall, this is the complete opposite of a sophomore slump. Amazing work.

    No effort at all.

Although I consider myself a fan, I feel like there is no concept that covers this record. Lack of cohesive sonority.

I don't think she's ever gonna top her previous album, but this one was some kind of continuation of her debut. I enjoyed the tracks that are kinda relaxing like "Getting Older", "Your Power" or "Male Fantasy", as well as weird track "Not My Responsibility". While "Therefore I Am" is an ode to all the people who don't like her and I find it pretty catchy. Although I was a fan of the first album, this one is much more mature and refined, showcasing her emotions, insecurities, and vocal abilities more than anything prior. She isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

So, whilst it may not boast songs that stick with you for months in the way that Eilish’s first does, Happier Than Ever feels like a project that will age more gracefully and, in years to come, it may even come to eclipse that which came before it.

“Your Power” is the slowest-and-lowest moment on “Happier Than Ever,” but as a whole the album is softer, quieter, more languid than Eilish’s trap-inflected debut. ... The dreamy-jazzy mode suits her singing, which has never sounded better than it does throughout “Happier Than Ever.”

Billie Eilish’s second album expands upon everything that worked the last time and pushes it in new directions, a creative muse restless and bold in its ambition. It may not always land, but this is a terrific release that proves Eilish’s staying power, demonstrating she’s more than up to the task of delivering on the promise of her debut.
