The fondness for schmaltz gets a bit overwhelming, and the album is only great in patches.

He is not afraid to explore new styles, approaches and patterns. The featurings on 'Heavy Is the Head' are great, especially from H.E.R., Headie One and Yebba. The female voices that accompany Stormzy's are very pleasant to listen to. 'Own It' appears as the major highlight on this album. Fortunately other tracks see Stormzy deploy his interesting reflections and inflections even if some songs quickly become repetitive and a certain weariness is felt as you listen to the album.
