    it's amazing how Florence has this ability to be so real, so crude and so simple. High As Hope is a masterpiece full of unique feelings, real stories, wonderful arrangements and melodies.

    Florence's beautiful voice and some drums can easily carry an entire album. And this is all this album is. Under produced and it shows how great Florence is. But I still would have liked some of the deeper swells and peaks of her older stuff.

    This is different form other Florence + The Machine records, but this doesn't´t mean that is something bad, actually is great because she is an artist, and an artist always delivers something more to the new projects, so that it could be distinctive and this album, to me at least, is a wonder, is not better to "How big, how blue, how beautiful" but it is a beautiful album. "High as hope" is more soften and subtle than previous works from the band, but it manages to stand because they use Florence Welch extremely talented voice as an instrument, and that adds more vulnerability to every song, that I think, that was what they intended. Something that I noticed, was that almost all the songs had the same structure (start softly, then increase the sound and the intensity of it, to end softly again.) and hearing all of the album you can notice that, to some may be a bad thing, I must say that I was hopping that every song had a different structure, but the result wasn't bad, and I could hear the songs over and over again with no problem at all. If you´re a Florence fan, you´ll love the album, if you are new into this band, you can expect emotion, a great and powerful voice, and lyrics that can be poetic and specific at the same time… Expand

    Sem dúvida um álbum muito bem trabalhado e produzido. Qualquer música ficaria boa em um clipe e cada letra é profundamente tocante. Patricia é uma das melhores do álbum, junta a Big God e Hunger.

    It's such a beautiful album, from beggining to end. Florence + the Machine is back with a piece of art. Raw, intense, soft and strong. Every song is unique, powerful in their own way. I'm so glad that she is back.

    Hay una sincronización de cada canción a otra armoniosa, que al pasar de una pista a otra guardan relación, ritmos parecidos y a la vez distintos, letras profundas que recorren en las 10 canciones desde June hasta No Choir.     Best album from Florence. Lyrically and instrumentaly this is the most achieved work so far. June hunger patricia 100 years and The end of love are big highlights from this album.

    Welch traz os seus fardos passados para esse álbum fazendo com que tudo se transforme em uma grande e enorme poesia musical gostosa para os ouvidos. Todas as faixas tem uma sonoridade boa e bem produzida, trazendo assim a elevação da alma. O álbum mais bem produzido e acabado da Florence + The Machine.

    After the first spin my immediate reaction is that it is both (a) powerful in presentation and (b) appears to synthesize the different, sometimes radically so, tone and sounds that have defined each of her previous albums. This is very much a compliment, very much a good thing.

    I stumbled upon her first album not long after it came out, back when I was still keeping up with the 'indie scene' (is that even a thing anymore?). I loved it. Still consider it a masterpiece, if a bit dated.

    Her next two albums took very different tracts, with a 'a'religiosity feel on Ceremonials and a more direct feminist approach in what came after.

    She where her previous two albums had some amazing songs, they were overstuffed and tiring, with too much filler - songs that were interesting but better released separately.

    This album though? It seems to take the confidence she's always had, she's focused her efforts and has produced her most cohesive, beautiful and - yes - powerful album ever.

    This may be a masterpiece; time will tell.    … Expand

    I loved this album, it's a poweful and deep intimate piece of Florence's life. She is always capable of getting me emotional. I love Hunger, June, South London forever, A Sky full of song and Big God.
    Incredible work for an amazing artist.

    The new record, titled "High As Hope", delivers what's promised, relying    Three years after the release of her outstanding third LP "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful", Florence Welch is back with a new record she promised us she had stripped down her sound for (something she promised us with "HBHBHB" after "Ceremonials", but we never quite heard it on there.. not that we're complaining!).
    The new record, titled "High As Hope", delivers what's promised, relying on Welch's vocals more than ever, making use of lyrics that are her most personal ever, playing over very minimalistic productions, they're sometimes barely heard ("Sky Full of Song" sounds almost like an acapella if it wasn't for those gentle guitars filling the background).

    The record opens up with the beautiful and heartfelt ballad "June", which starts off as calm, and then builds up until the outro finds Florence thrashing around over dramatic drums and shouting "I'm so high, I'm so high". As aforementioned, the lyrics on this project are very personal, they feel like they've been taken straight out of Flo's diary: she apologizes to her sister on the tender-but-powerful "Grace", singing "I'm sorry I ruined your birthday, you had turned 18 / And the sunshine hit me and I was behaving strangely", and even opens up about an old eating-disorder she once suffered from on "Hunger" ("At 17, I started to starve myself / I thought that love was a kind of emptiness"), that turns out to be a universal anthem about yearning for all types and scales of love. Another absolute highlight is "100 Years" which is a 5-minutes journey of lyrics and instrumentals, and therefore makes the most Florence-y song on here.

    What is beautiful about Florence + the Machine is that they never make the same record twice: each LP of theirs has its own identity, and its little universe in which it perpetually exists. On "High As Hope", the chaos is gone, and the music, the sounds, and the lyrics are the sonic representation of a ray of sun breaking through a window and enlightening a room.    … Expand

    Florence Welch and the Machine have created another masterpiece of Music! Her voice is beyond words the songs are like a spiritual experience. My only complaint is that I want more, 3 years since 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful' and we've only gotten 10 songs. Still, I'm incredibly happy with 'High as Hope' and it is a great example of 'quality not quantity'.

    In both a lyrical and instrumental aspect, High as Hope is the band's best work yet with a more stripped-down feel in most of the tracks. Florence sings about even touchier topics than in her previous album "HBHBHB". Favourite tracks: Hunger, Big God, Patricia, No Choir

    I have not loved a FatM album like this since Lungs. It's one of my VERY rare no-skip records, and I'm just entranced by every story on every haunting track. You can taste Flo's emotions, and it's REALLY hard not to sing along.

    I almost never buy physical CDs anymore, but I bought this one.

    It is a highly emotional album, I am really moved by it and it brought me to tears. I am giving this rating purely based my adore on Florence and the machine. Objectively, I would actually give it an 8 due to the transition between songs can seemly disconnect. I prefer music video vision of Hunger with 15 seconds intro.

    It's an album with a too monotonous beginning, but everything changes when the angelic voice of Florence takes "Big God"
    There is the exact moment where "High As Hope" becomes not only a masterpiece but it rediscovers you with your spiritual self.

    Flo is my fave for many years, so i am probably biased.
    Definitely getting better with every album.
    It is extremely personal, intimate and emotional. Not just music, but set of poems and confessions, lyrics heavy, and needs to be listened more times, to connect things. Grace is emotionally devastating OTT for me, well im not sure if its any good, to listen something and cry like baby    Flo is my fave for many years, so i am probably biased.

    Florenece is a beautiful soul, and she is an example of living art. High as hope has an incredibly smooth flow to it, which gives the listener a very joyful time instead of being boredom. It is a very personal album, more than anything else they have ever done. The minimalistic production alleviates the record to new heights for Florence + the Machine. Honestly one of my favourite songs of 2018. Real Fleetwood Mac vibe, earthy. South London Forever-8/10.     Grace-7/10. Least favourite song, just because it is slightly repetitive but nevertheless a really reflective song that gives us a closer look into Florence's life
    Patricia-8/10. Dreamy and packs a punch. Slightly similar to 'Grace' with being a little repetitive however i still really enjoyed the first listen!
    100 Years-9/10. Classic F+TM with a crashing build up and husky vocals
    The End Of Love-8/10. Really touching song with a great build up
    No Choir-8/10. A really understated and subtle song with hidden beauty. Just love her vocals on this one!

    Overall, her least over-produced album to date, quaint and mystical. A leap from HBHBHB, a 10/10 album! I think High As Hope could've had a few more songs for a bit more diversity on the record, nonetheless it really touched me and has been added to all my playlists! Wonderful album.    … Expand

    All of the songs are perfectly slow burn yet it grows on you quite fast, Hunger, Sky Full Of Song, Big God, The End of Love, and Patricia are my highlights, especially that end of Patricia is super hopeful and beautiful. from banging drums to that beautiful string arrangement, just magnificent

A far cry from the decadent grandeur of her past three works, she took a massive risk with pairing it back, but it's one I believe truly pays off. She conveys the raw emotions she has faced throughout her life beautifully, from candidly talking about eating disorders in 'Hunger' to her grandmother's suicide in 'The End of Love', she allows us to see the vulnerable side of a generally powerful icon. But not only does she take a risk with such topic matters, she pairs down the instrumentals, truly allowing her voice to ring out, unlike previous albums where there were complaints of the instrumentals taking over a voice. Every song is an absolute knockout, and this has become the best album of 2018 so far for me.… Expand

    The production is overall quite good, the lyrics are incredible and the vibe is both nostalgic and energetic. I loved it from the beginning to the end.
    It could be longer in my opinion (40 mins are not much).

    Florence Welch is a new person now.

    This album is a symbol of the maturity as an artist for Florence. Lyrics are so deep, sometimes even painful for listeners. Very minimalistic production, but in couple of songs the production is standing out. This is a short and very cohesive album, congratulations for the whole band!

    Sometimes you don't need all those magical fantasy from "Lungs". Sometimes you don't need all those bombastic wailing and witchcraft from "Ceremonial". And sometimes you don't want the anger, hatred and painful from "How big, How blue, How beautiful". High as Hope touches the part of us that we often take for granted ; emotion.     Esse álbum, sem dúvida alguma, é o melhor da carreira da banda e também do ano de 2018. É uma junção extraordinária de melodia + letra + vocais que fazem com que não se consiga pular uma faixa sequer. Florence + The Machine demonstram evoluir a cada álbum que lançam e chegaram em seu auge artístico durante a era High As Hope. Simplesmente Magnífico!

    Florence Welch keeps writing magic music. This album has lyrics that are raw and beautiful, and the melodies that accompany them will make you feel so much of everything. Thank you Florence + The Machine for recording this album.

    I'm convinced Florence + the Machine can do no wrong. After the monumental "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful," I was eagerly looking forward to what Florence Welch would come up with next. And she didn't disappoint. "High as Hope" is a softer album than any of her previous work, and some it has a slower vibe than expected. But the album still houses her powerful signature songwriting and imagery, and even brings back some of the more folky nature of her debut "Lungs." There is a lot of triumph on this album, with songs like "South London Forever" and "Patricia" declaring love for places and people of the past with brass instrumentals and upbeat tempos. But the greatest work comes from the slower and heartfelt personal ballads: both "Grace" and "The End of Love" took my breath away the first time I listened to them and still do today. "Big God" is the only experimental song, and while I have it listed as my least favorite, that's only because its darker themes and sounds seem odd compared to the rest of the album.    … Expand

    This is my second favorite Florence album. I really like the production of all the tracks, it makes the tracks feel raw and authentic. I also really like her lyrics on this album. They're very personal and they really make me feel connected to the album. My favorite tracks are South London Forever, Big God, 100 Years, Patricia, The End of Love and Grace.

At least we have such beutiful and brilliant moments from Florence (June, Hunger, Patricia, even Grace). And a quasi-masterpiece as "100 years" - with the multi-layered power of percussion and sometimes a little orchestration, specially when live-performed. Most of the songs unfurl to reveal grand moments that take the listener by surprise. Some of the songs do feel a bit muddled or just lacking a definitive direction and sort of vacillate in-between calm and terror.     While there may be no obvious "stadium" moments here to compare with "Ship to Wreck" from 2015's How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful or the massive "Shake It Out" from 2011's Ceremonials, aside, perhaps from recent single "Big God," this is a deep well of an album that demands repeated listens--the subtleties and intricacies revealing themselves satisfyingly and sometimes inspiringly as time goes on.

    By stripping everything back, it often ends up just being a distillation of their sound. The songs are familiar but frustratingly lack any colour or character.
