This is an excellent summary of Franz Ferdinand's career, taking a decent amount of material from each era (bar their FFS record). It's a real taste tray of the band. There is a nice mix from all their albums although as is always the case with such compilations, you could argue for the inclusions of a few tracks over others. I'd probably have added "Jacqueline" and "Eleanor Put Your BootsThis is an excellent summary of Franz Ferdinand's career, taking a decent amount of material from each era (bar their FFS record). It's a real taste tray of the band. There is a nice mix from all their albums although as is always the case with such compilations, you could argue for the inclusions of a few tracks over others. I'd probably have added "Jacqueline" and "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" to this myself but the playlist they went with flows well. In terms of the new tracks, "Curious" is decent, "Billy Goodbye" less so. The collection shows that the band didn't vary too much but were pretty sharp at their brand of art pop. Expand

It is a good compilation of the best of Franz Ferdinand, it rescues the best of each album, also the songs added are quite good, mainly curious

This feels like the perfect "Greatest Hits" album of all time. Excellent and fantastic songs, paired with 2 new great singles. Franz Ferdinand has done it again!

While again it’s no surprise that 9 of the 18 previously released tracks here are from the first two records, tracks like the aforementioned “Ulysses” and “Evil Eye” (from 2013’s Right Words, Right Thoughts, Right Action, their last full-length with guitarist Nick McCarthy not including FFS) are strong enough to perhaps make some skeptical listeners go back and listen to those records.

Despite omitting anything from FFS, their career re-booting alliance with Sparks, this is as good as introductions get. [Apr 2022, p.95]

Franz Ferdinand’s potential is repeatedly hinted at rather than fully realized. If this career shortcut can give us any consolation, it’s that it’s better to show potential than to have none at all.
