HNDRXX provides a view into a modern rock star indulging in a side of himself that’s more thoughtful and dare one say, honest.

While his most definitive project remains 2015’s Dirty Sprite 2 for its balance of Future’s innate melodic sense and especially effective trap records, HNDRXX comes in as a close second.

HNDRXX is a reminder that no matter how hard he tries to shun his reputation as a hitmaker, Future remains one of the most reliable acts in mainstream music, his reluctance aside.

Over a well-played hand of wistful, bright-eyed and reflective beats, HNDRXX strikes a near-perfect balance between a man still licking his wounds and a man emerging from a long, dark night.

It's the slickest, spaciest project he's released since Honest (which was always underrated), and sits far left of the trap rigor mortis of the self-titled record.

Like its predecessor, it's an hour-plus data dump of quotidian creativity with a slight thematic focus, not a tightly sequenced tour de force. But Future wouldn't be Future if he wasn't unburdening himself, no matter how messy and polarizing the results might be. And for the most part, he's at his most appealing here.

Two good albums, then--but more editing could have produced a single excellent one. [May 2017, p.104]

What to say about that specifically? Future appeared on music scene in 2009 and since then he has released 7 albums, truly astonishing number considering a lot of other artists in hip hop whose career spans for over 15 years have either the same number of projects or one or two projects more. Future has proved once again that even though his work ethic is at the probably highest level on the music scene, he still is able to provide fans with quality music. Many people say quality over quality which is obviously a smart choice, Future here provides with both and quality and quantity. This album right here is definitely better than previous self entitled FUTURE. Criticism of his previous self entitled album was mainly concentrated on the focus of the album which was purely Future we have known in the past 3 years which is purely that raw, hard, gritty trap music. Lack of inovation and inspiration were main problems of that album, but this album right here is straight opposite. We witnessed emotionally scarred Future, who reflects on his failed relationship with famous RnB singer Ciara, legal issues with his manager Rocko, failed relationships etc. However we also get that known Future who breaks women hearts with his playboy lifestyle of changing women everyday. This album is pure concentrated RnB ,hip hop album and is complete opposite to his previous efforts which were purely trap. Definitely a smart decision from Atlanta rapper who looks not to fall into obscurity or musical fall off however you want to interpret it. Future at this point of his career released a lot of projects, some were classics, some were decent and with his surprising collaborations with artists like Maroon 5 and Ariana Grande, Future wants people to know that he is reaching the highest stardom known in music but also releasing quality and trying to become the best trap rever ever. Future is definitely a legend and with every project he releases he is reaching for that number one spot. Expand

Definitly, in my opinion, future's best album. I enjoyed all of the tarcks on this album. The album had amazing production and Future tried something new with his music and that was for the best. Songs like "Lookin Exotic" and "Solo" were so well thought out, catchy and enjoyable to listen to. Future managed to intertwine hip-hop, rnb, rap, and a little soul and make it sound good, incredible! Expand

He departs from his usual style to create an R&B inspired album with catchy, poppy hooks and far more depth than the previous project. The Weeknd and Rihanna both perform well on their features and help to make this project one of Future's best yet. Expand

However, after listening to this album (HNDRXX), i am amazed at how innovative this album is, from strong bursts of fire from the The Weeknd's featuring to the soulful anthem featuring Rihanna, this album is a must.

StartsProduction is as shining as it's sister project, but with an atmospheric touch of R&B. Lyrically smooth, although repetitive at times. Starts off exceptionally with "My Collection", "Comin' out Strong" and "Lookin' Exotic". Continues this way until it starts to become somewhat tiring after "Testify". The songs after this track range from somewhat boring to absolutely astronomical, but fail to outshine the first few cuts until the final few tracks, "Sorry", "PIE" and "You da Baddest", which sit at their standard. Overall, the good manages to outshine the bad on this project. Expand
